Subject: boot to eprom

Dear All

I have a small collection of electrons.BBC Bs and masters, which are 
cluttering up my house.

I also have a need for a number of house alarm auto dialers, which 
when the alarm sounds will also ring my mobile or work or key holder 
etc

I thought I would kill two birds with one stone and convert my 
machines into autodialers.

Here are the problems as i see it

1) I dont want the machines on all the time so I want them to run 
code from Eprom as they power up.

could I use the *ROM format ?
How do I get that as the active filing system after power up ?
How do I create the ROM image ? I have access to a programmer

2) I will program the soundchip directly for the DTMF tones

3) I would like to get the *speech code as part of the program to 
allow me to send a message like "alarm at 123 long street activated 
enter pin to cancel or next key holder will be rung"

4) as an added extra i would like to sense dtmf tones, this may be a 
little ambitous 

so

Has anyone any idea how to boot form the *rom system ?
Does any one know of any *rom generating programs ?
Does anyone know where to get the *speech program from ?
