Hmm, sounds interesting.

I'd say .ssd (single sided image) and .dsd (double sided image) files are
best as their are enough programs to then manipulate these images into other
formats, and most of the PC emulators use this format.

According to the interview in Acorn User 06/1988, Erasure used the UMI
sequencer.
