Minidisk might be even better (providing the lossy compression 
doesn't cause problems which I doubt) - you can get 148 minutes
mono on one disk and overwrite as many times as you like, and
they are more portable than CDs.  You can also add titles for
each software item on the medium itself.

It's an inefficient way to store software, though, isn't it?  A
minute of audio representing a few K of BBC code would take up
nearly a megabyte of space on an MD (and much more on a CD)!
