Yeah, I had at least a couple of Replay systems. Basically, you had
one connection to the interrupt line on the 6502 and one connection
to another chip near the PSU. You pressed a little button when you
wanted to "freeze the action", which gave you a menu allowing you to
save the complete contents of memory.
The system worked very well and I recall the documented case of
Gary Partis doing his damnest to incorporate into Psycastria some
routines to prevent Replay from working on that game. It however,
didnt work.
As I recall, it also had some encryption system on it, each unit had
its own id and Replay discs created with that id could only be
played on that id.
Hope that helps those who perhaps haven't come across Replay before.
In fact, in the "good old" BBC days, I recall there were people
selling "pirate" versions of the Replay system!!

Yes, very! I too have maybe 50 or 60 discs of BBC stuff, from my
own creations (shoot em ups etc) to lots of Music 500/5000 stuff
to lots and lots of games.
I shall hopefully be digging out my machine in the next couple of
weeks and shall catalogue everything I have in case its of interest.
Cheers
