Crispin,
I see that your recent 'huge update' is mainly comprised of scans 'nicked'
from my pages. In fact, you have helped yourself to EVERY SINGLE COVER SCAN
that you were lacking. You might argue that the scans don't legally belong to
anybody, apart from perhaps the original copyright holder - True. But the
fact is my web page took a very long time to prepare and I don't see the point
of developing a page if my efforts are to be just cut and pasted and used
elsewhere, or in other words 'ripped off'.
Like any 'webmaster', I don't mind some parts (though NOT whole areas) being
reproduced on other internet pages - it increases the range of coverage the
work enjoys, and can lead to increased traffic for the original site (IF
appropriate credit and return links are provided).
By failing to ask permission and by refusing to even acknowledge the origin of
the images you are effectively passing the work off as your own, which is in
my view, very poor 'netiquette'. Please, if you must make use of the images
then at least have the decency to credit each one where necessary.
Sorry to bring another 'BBC Central' type scenario up again - at the end of
the day 'emulating' is only nostalgic fun and nobody wants to get stressed out
about it, but no matter how trivial the subject matter, it IS infuriating to
see people steal your hard work, especially when they try to pass it off as
their own by not giving due credit.
Dave.
