Subject: Some machines to resurrect
I've just been given 6 8-bit machines to resurrect and play with. While I've
had heaps of experience of Model B's, this is really the first time I've
had Masters to work with. I hope someone can answer my questions below.
2 BBC MODEL Bs
ISSUE 7
OS 1.20
BASIC 2.00
DFS 1.20
Years ago I had an issue 4 Model B. Before I sold it I stripped out a 16k
S/W RAM module. I would like to put this back into one the Beebs. It has
a wire coming off it which goes to a r/w switch and then continues. I left
a note to myself that this needs to be soldered to IC77 pin 8.
Does this still apply to Issue 7 Motherboards or does it now attach to something
else?
3 MASTERs
2 of these have 3.5 inch drives fixed in the side of them and an extra ROM
fitted, ADFS 2.10. The other one is standard.
F TERMINAL 01
E VIEW 04
D ADFS 50
C BASIC 04
B EDIT 01
A VIEWSHEET 02
9 DFS 79
8 ADFS 10
On boot up all I get is:
Acorn MOS
ADFS
and then it hangs. How do I need to *CONFIGURE these machines so they will
boot? Do I need to *UNPLUG the DFS and older ADFS?
1 COMPACT
This machine has certainly seen better days! I'm not sure how stuffed it
is as I haven't looked inside it yet. When powered on all I get is a continuous
beep. Any ideas what's wrong?
Thanks everyone,
Mike.
