Nothing is happening behind your back.  I'm tempted to say that you did
it all to yourself - probably unconciously though, that's the sad and
tricky part.  

This list has for many years consisted of humble (!) guys eager to
contribute help and tidbits of information to those who need it.  Also,
the tone here is always calm, modest and respectful.  Traffic here is
usually only the slightest trickle, because people post when they think
they have something interesting to say, or when they have a problem and
don't know where to find the answer.  

I'll leave it at saying that our common image of you until now does not
fit well with what we're used to.  Many of us reserve the right to take
offense by someone who doesn't seem to make much of an effort to adjust
- or to take subtle hints to that effect, for that matter.

I think banning is way too drastic, and for me personally, you're
welcome to stay.  I advise you to take Mark's suggestions to heart,
though, or soon you might find that nobody responds to your posts to the
list.
