Subject: Re: Can someone ban Faraz Choudhry?

I agree with the general conclusion we made some time ago that it should
be enough to use whatever features one's mail reader has for getting rid
of unwanted mail. Our list consists of mostly mature members (with a
bit of a kid in them), so I think the list should be run in a gentle,
democratic way. Anybody should be able to join and post, provided they
adhere to general netiquette and stay on topic.

An added bonus is if they also pick up on the unwritten culture of this
little community and behave like exemplary citizens. It is up to each
and every one of us to decide when our internal buckets (stacks, queues,
whatever) are at capacity, and then take action towards improving the
signal-to-noise ratio to a level one is happy with. Luckily, all modern
mail reader software should have this capability.

Everybody has a right to be heard.
But each person also has a right not to listen.

A pity about the phone bill, but that's a problem with almost any
mailing list. I wouldn't bother about the petition. (My guess would be
50/50.)

(This is my final word on this topic - I've probably tired enough people
already, myself.)
