Some of the ROMs have been 'unplugged' - that is, the OS is configured not
to accept that there's anything in that ROM slot. To get them back, you
need to do *INSERT <decimal rom number>. For example, to get BASIC back,
*INSERT 12
The 'This is not a language' error comes about when the ROM configured as
the startup language ROM doesn't have an entry point for a language ROM in
it, either because it's not a language (it's a filing system or utility
ROM), or it's unplugged.
Chances are that the default language is ROM 12, BASIC, and *INSERTing it
will get rid of the error. Otherwise, *INSERT the ROM, then do *CONFIGURE
LANGUAGE 12, and press CTRL+BREAK.
