Subject: Please help with Beep B

I just bought a BBC B with DFS and wordwise + installed from ebay.
As soon as I turn it on there is a loud BEEEEEEEBBBBBBB noise that is 
continuous and wont stop until I switch off the machine.
I havent tried to hook it to the TV yet because of the noise.
I take it it is a bad sign.

Can anyone suggest anything??
