That sounds about right. A sort of ribbon cable extends from the unit, where
the brown, red, orange, yellow, green and blue wires are connected to the user
port plug, and indigo and violet are linked to the two pins on the power
supply plug. I have two of these adaptors, both are wired exactly as you
described and both run off the internal BBC psu.

I think I have a spare copy of the manual you can have - let me have a rummage
around for it and I'll get back to you. I've also got the utilities disk which
I could email/post to you, but I think you may already have this?!?
