Subject: Anyone in the mood for redrawing Dare Devil Dennis?
only faintly relevant I know, but I have much of the 'bit multiplexing' (at
this stage just putting improved graphics over old ones, maybe more later -
and I really wish someone could tell me a better name) functionality working
now in my Electron emulator, and it'll be in the next beta. So I was hoping
to release an improved game at the same time, and have picked Dare Devil
Dennis because its quite a good game Superior don't hold the copyright to
and which it was terribly easy to find the sprites for within the memory
map.
What I wondering is whether anyone on this list has any artistic bent and
could redraw the sprites to be nice, neatly crafted 256 colour replacements?
I have uploaded them here (all in PCX form) :
http://electrem.emuunlim.com/DDenSprites.zip
In case anyone wants to have a look. Be aware though, that for various
reasons (mostly getting the OS text output to work) the lower 16 palette
entries are all mapped exactly as the only 16 colours on a BBC/Electron in
mode 2 are. I.e. you can't assign them to be any R,G,B colour - although any
of the other 240 colours can be assigned any way you like.
If anyone wants, I could send the combination of (horrid quick hack) tools
and a work in progress of the emulator (for DOS, Windows/DirectX,
Linux/SVGALib or UNIX/GGI) so that they can test everything at their house
and not bother sending the PCXs back and forth all day just to see how
something looks.
Thanks in advance, sorry to write such faintly off topic stuff.
-Thomas
