No. I'm pretty sure it was just the RAM which was missing, and a few other 
things (the model A didn't have A/D convertor chipset installed? I'm sure 
the AUG will provide the answers but I'm in the Netherlands at the moment).

Easiest way to test a model A is to boot it up and see if it says "16k" 
rather than the usual "32k". I once bought one of these - don't know where 
it is now though, SWMBO made me chuck out a lot of Beeb stuff ;)
