I vaguely remember something from old micro users about Acorn havnig to do
this. Can check old issues when I'm next at my parents' (2 weeks or so), if
anybody's interested. It turned out that "BBC" was only a trademark of the
British Broadcasting Corporation in England; elsewhere in Europe, it could
be (and had been) used by other companies. So, I presume, British
Broadcasting Corporation Microcomputer System it was...

I have 3 Beebs; one says "BBC MICROCOMPUTER" (it's issue 3 and very old[1]),
and the other two say "BRITISH BROADCASTING [etc.]" -- they're both issue 7,
and of unknown age.
