As a translation of Gareth's email:
Outlook by default posts rich-text mails, with style information. While
many mailers are OK with this, several (notably not Outlook) have problems.
Additionally, many users turn off such "features" as they can be used to
trigger trojans and viruses - this is why a lot of the email viruses
prevailent on the Internet originate from Outlook, it's because they're
easily embedded by default.
It's quite probable that the user posting the email doesn't know they're
posting rich-text or HTML mails, but a lot of users here are on dialups and
posting such can double, sometimes even triple the size of an email.
FWIW, my copy of Eudora 5.1 renders it in such a fashion as to make it
almost unreadable due to the text size difference.
Nobody is disputing the work you're putting in doing the disk collections
and I for one appreciate it Dave, but please can you try and turn off the
rich-text method of sending - it detracts from the real message of your
email if nothing else ;)
(And the quoting argument is "please cut down how much you quote" and
"place your answer below the quote" - a matter of preference really).
