When did you last use these disks, and where were they stored? The odds are
that you do indeed have a perfectly functional drive and beeb, but the disks
were corrupted years ago.
Alternatively, and this is less likely, the head alignment is wrong,
particularly if these disks were created on another drive. Sadly, the odds
against you adjusting this to get it right is expressed as a number tending
towards the sqaure root of zero. I managed to do it once myself on a torch
Z80 machine back in the day, but I would never be able to remember how :(
Have you tried formatting a disk, writing to it and reading from it? Just
in case, what is the error you are getting? How long does it take to return
the error? What is the pattern of the sound from the drive? These things
are more an art than anything else. If you get a series of slow clicks then
five faster ones, for instance, I'd say the disk is correct for the drive
but a track is corrupted etc.
Not optimistic, sorry, ut maye someone else will have better news...

Subject: [BBC-Micro] BBC Micro repairs
I have two BBC micros and a double 5.25 double-sided disc-drive.
Unfortunately, something is wrong and I cannot read any discs, which I
need to do to retrieve important information. The computers and the
drive seem to work but every disc gives an error message.
Is there someone who repairs these machines?
