Is this with BBC BASIC 86 on a PC? Have you tried it with any other
printer? Can you print to this printer from DOS? I've never used BBC
BASIC 86, so all all can offer are suggestions based on what I've seen in
the manual.

First, make sure you're printing to the right device. *OPT sets where
normal output goes (usually the screen); *OPT 1 for COM1: and *OPT 2 for
PRN: or LPT1: *OPT 0 sets output to the VDU emulator, and I *think* VDU 2
and 3 should then turn printing on/off (so should ctrl-P) -- but how you
determine whether it goes to the serial or parallel ports I don't know. It
might be worth trying *OPT {1,2} as appropriate for your printer to see if
that works before you try much more.
