Subject: Battery BBC
Hello Everyone,
Thank you for your help regarding how I might connect a 3.5" floppy drive to
a Master.
I'm probably being cheeky asking for information twice in one day
but............
I'd be interested in hearing if anyone has tried running a BBC or Master
from a external power source like a sealed lead acid battery (e.g. a car
battery). The particular application I'm considering would do away with the
Beeb's power supply (so no DC-AC inverters). Hence I need +5V, 0V and -5V
(at whatever the current ratings are without looking them up).
I'm considering starting a simple (autonomous) robotics project using a
Master motherboard I have lying around and a stepper motor controller I made
a while back. The User port is a godsend and I can use good ol' BBC Basic
instead of learning Forth or C or whatever is required for Basic Stamps and
PICs et al.
I've never attempted a power supply before and would prefer a kit of parts
to a fully DIY approach.
Sorry to be a nuisance,
Austin.
P.S. I know the thing will be the size of a tank. ;-)
