try checking what other roms you've got:

*HELP

and this provide some other further attributes to add to the *HELP <here>

failing that i've got a cumana utilities disc with a nice graphical :-)
formatter on it.
it is slow - but seems more reliable than my BROM & ADT formatters. well, it
was 10 years ago!!

Maybe if you have other disk utility roms plugged in they might expect you
to use their formatting command? For example on Disc Doctor:

*FORM 0 80

If you are in Darren Logan's situation where you have a disk interface with
no built in formatting commands you could try one of the magazine programs
(I remember some being published in the likes of ELECTRON USER etc.)

Hope this helps

I think it depends on which verion of DFS you have.
For some you need a separate format program. I have a
beeb with a disk interface that I've never been able
to find a format program for.
