I didn't know that. I have a copy of the 8271 data sheet but not the 1770
(type 1770 into Google and all you get is pages about Beethoven).
Another thought (yes, 2 in one week!) 01/00 is a slightly odd place to get
sector not found errors, as it suggests that track 0 is fine but track 1
isn't formatted ... but if you were trying to use a 40-track disc in an
80-track drive that's exactly what you'd see, no? Does a switchable 80/40
drive in 40 mode just skip every alternate track?
