You know, something like that might be implemented for all operating systems
including that of the Beeb's, before writing a GUI or browser for the it.
Simple use of TCP/IP from the command line, provide you have the interface.

I've put together some test files on my site if people want to test this
concept and develop it further. They are various music playing programs
and are found at http://www.mdfsnet.f9.co.uk/Software/Music
They are mime-typed as "application/basic".
It's an attractive concept. I'd really like to be able to do:
CHAIN "www/mdfsnet/f9/co/uk.Software.Music.JGH1.ColdTea" on an emulated
Beeb!
