Alternatively, though this isn't quite what Colin asked for, you can stop
it by holding down both SHIFT and CTRL (so long as you continue to hold
them both down), then press ESCAPE when you find what you want. On some
versions of the MOS, and on an Archimedes, SHIFT alone will slow it down.
