Yes ISTR at that time they were 2114 1k x4, if you wanted more memory 
you had to pay big money or use dram.

I have just located a design that uses 6264 SRAM chips on 
http://home.iae.nl/users/bverhoev/ , "The Electron Lives" website. Just 
what I was looking for...

BTW I'm new to this list, having just re-kindled my interest in 8-bit 
acorn machines. I picked a couple up cheaply over that last few years 
and I'm in the process of refurbishing them. I would have liked a Beeb 
back in 1985 but at the time £400 was way out of reach for me.
