Yes, I agree with the plea for plain text - don't forget though, many
email clients have this as their default setting, and many, many people
do not realize. They simply use the computer as a tool for
communicating, and are not familiar with all etiquettes, features etc.,
although with time they often learn, so also a policy of tolerance and
education should be adopted.

Which totally defeats the point of an archive don't you think? I don't
notice historical archives removing all writings in biro instead of ink
as a matter of policy. The information (even if unreadable to some, e.g.
Egyptian Hieroglyphics) is important, not its presentation - that can
always be corrected, although sometimes it is misinterpreted during such
a transformation.
