Subject: It works!
Thanks to Jules, I have my BBC working.
Now comes the frustrating part.
Getting XFER to work.
Here's what I've found:
1. Most important, XFER V3 works on my old '486 laptop running Win95, and
transfers files correctly. It does not work on my Duron with WinME. It
doesn't appear to choke on large files.
2. XFER v4 which *does* run, produces files on the BBC which are 12 bytes
long, and appear to contain only the name of the programme that was sent. It
chokes on files larger than 4096 bytes.
Still and all, I guess I *have* something workable.
Thanks to all who offered suggestions. Especially about the hardware fault.
The moral of the story: If you get four cursors on your Beeb, change the
6845.
