It's weird that I've observed different results to you.

BeebEm v1.41

Acorn DFS0.98 + 8271 Boots but Hangs on Launch
Acorn DFD0.90 + 8271 Boots but Hangs on Launch
Acorn DNFS 1.2 + 8271 Boots but Hangs on Launch with Not Found Error
Watford DFS 1.44 + 8271 Boots but Hangs on Launch
Acorn DFS 2.23 + 1770 Boots but Hangs on Launch

Acorn DFS 2.26 + 1770 Intermittent.

I'll stick with ModelB for the present and the RAM DISK option!
