If you can get a dual-band VHF-UHF tuner then it should theoretically be
possible to substitute it for the single-band UHF version. ISTR the only
additional control you would need would be a band-switching control
voltage as the varicap tuning voltage would be identical (0-30v) and the
intermediate frequency output should be the same.
I suspect the tuners in them are Phillips (or Mullard if really old!).
The tuner part number begins with a U + three or four digits so if you
can post that here maybe someone can suggest an equivalent.
