Hi,
I have some still pictures of drives offered by acorn. They like the
BBC micro set, with unusual back grounds and machines on podiums with cubes
etcs. I think they came with the BBC as a product advert.
One thing noticeable around this time was a lot of manufactures had
similar looking floppy drives. They must have been from similar original
manufactures like TEAC or Chion and rebranded with company logos this was
very apparent at Micro Users show which where held at places like UMIST in
Manchester.
Does anyone have any lists of OEM manufactures used by various
companies?

Subject: [BBC-Micro] Quick query ...
Hi all,
Perhaps someone out there could answer something that has been bugging me
for some time. Did Acorn ever produce their own floppy drives? I know that
they provided (one of the many) DFS chips, but I can only ever remember
seeing third-party drives (Pace, Cumana, Viglen etc.), and it seems a little
odd to me that they would only go two thirds of the way (computer, software,
but no devices).
A friend of mine claims to have seen an Acorn badged floppy drive unit - if
this is the case and his memory isn't deceiving him - did Acorn sell
'rebadged' units from other manufacturers?
Thanks in advance for any info - even if it's probably the most trivial
question ever asked on this list!
Regards,
Matt Forbes
