I have a issue 7 BBC which I have been running for years with a 65c02
processor fitted in place of the 6502 so that I could take advantage of the
extra assembler code & so that I could run some of the Master software on
the BBC.
The details on the chip in my system is manufacturer :-GTE (followed by a
micro sign 'u')
and the number on the chip is :- G65SC02P-2.
It is plugged into a Watford Rom/Ram board so don't know if that makes a
difference, I have never put it directly into the BBC socket without the
Rom/Ram board, it has never given me any problems and runs 100%.
Some BBC software won't run with the chip in place though, like Zalaga &
some copy protected loaders like the tape version of Repton come to mind as
being a problem Due to the extra instruction set and the programs using
undocumented instructions.
Peter.
