Subject: Re: Aries B32 CPU plug
I don't know the Aries B32 board, but I've used the
following
technique on a number of 'daughter boards' which need
to be spaced
above the main board.
Use a wirewrap socket on the daughter board, and then
solder
the end of the each pin onto the top of a high-quality
turned-pin
IC socket.
The turned-pin IC socket's pins go well into the IC
socket on the
main board, and the wirewrap socket pins provide the
spacing
above the board.
Watford Electronics' original sideways ROM board
required one
to force wirewrap socket pins into the socket on the
main board,
which ruined that socket.
