Actually, the Spectrum had a "real" moving-coil speaker, with a 1-inch
diameter transparent plastic cone. It was the same sort of thing you
used to get (possibly still do?) in cheap headphones. 

I *think* the IBM PS/2 had a piezo squeaker, but I could be wrong.
