Subject: Domesday LVROM (VP415) service manuals

Quick one to say that these arrived in the post the other day - I'll
make an effort to scan them when I get a chance, but there's quite a bit
of info; 83 pages of training manual (theory of operation), around 30
pages of service manual, 30-odd pages of schematics on A3, and several
pages of mechanical drawings.

I'll try and get datasheets for all the main chips together too
(particularly the SAAxxx ones) before they vanish.

Anyway, the players have a built-in self test mode which I've never seen
anyone mention before (so was possibly forgotten info until now). Turn
the player on with a CAV disc already inside and standby + eject held
down and the player will run through self tests and display fault codes
on the screen. I'm happy to look up fault codes for anyone with faulty
players and give you an idea of which board to start poking at (the
circuitry is pretty well seperated with each board having a well-defined
function).

Unfortunately the copies I have are photocopies of the originals (all
that the chap who sent them to me had) and I think I'm missing a few
pages of flowcharts from the service manual - everything else appears to
be complete though.

cheers

Jules
