Subject: 3.5" new drive on old BBC B - DRIVE FAULT 10 problems
Hi all -
Thanks to Chris Richardson I have now connected my brand new 3.5" disk drive
to my BBC B - however - I'm still having problems reading and writing - can
any one help please?
I can read any disks catalogue file via: *CAT 1
I can load some small programmes (but not everytime)
I have managed to save a small basic programme
Reading and writing often gives a "DRIVE FAULT 10" message
Formatting is unreliable - you'll get 3 or 4 good sectors put down, followed
by a bad one.
What I'm using:
BBC B with DFS 1.20 fitted
Sony 3.5" DD and HD disk drive (MPF920-Z) connected to the BBC's power and
disk drive connectors.
Disk Drive Specifications
Model Number: MPF920-Z
Capacity: 1.44 MB
Data Transfer Rate: 500 kbps (1.6/2 MB mode) and or 250 kbps (1.6 MB
mode)
Average Access Time: 94 ms
3.5 inch media: 2HD (1.6/2 MB mode), 2DD (1MB mode)
[no internal jumpers to adjust settings]
I'm using new old stock 3.5" DD disks, as well as older previously reliable
disks too with similar results.
