I think what was meant, that the change from "spanish inquisition"
(original monty python) to "spanish acquisition" was a
joke-based-on-a-joke that was thought up Punt & Dennis on R4.
Yes, Monty Python did the original, but P&D did indeed re-do it to make
a joke out of the applicable news story.
