i did that sodler a 5 pin din (XT keyboard connector) with a flying lead 
onto the bottom of the pcb and brought it out the vent slot @ the top. that 
way I havent gotta worry about buggering nething up, I can just unsolder it 
and also the original socket still works.

now I have a 9 pin D type -> DIN socket and I use that for a variety of 
equipment. IE I have various equipment that I have with 5 pin Dins on. it 
makes it a standard "tail" and I can use the same lead for various bits n 
bobs
