Indeed - isn't the track 0 sensor optical, and if dust has got onto that
then nothing's going to work.
Do these drives have belt-drive to the spindles? Often the belts decay
over time (they go all sticky and stretch).
Presumably beeb drives need to be jumpered with the correct unit number
too (unlike with a PC that has the twist in the cable) - if a jumper's
fallen off one drive say then maybe both are showing up as unit 0.
I don't think termination's an issue (data rate's low enough that
systems never seem to care I suppose) but someone might want to comment
on that against a beeb's FDC chip.
