Subject: bag of spanners Opus drive

Anyone delved inside a twin Opus drive before and know why the one I
just picked up sounds like a bag of spanners?

I'll have a peer inside at the weekend; it's happily crunching away
reading disks at the moment though (I got xfer working :) so I don't
want to disturb it.

It occasionally crunches whilst idle so it's not spindle motor; I don't
think it's a head fouling problem either as it does it randomly whether
I'm reading a disk or not. Sounds more like relay chatter actually but
surely there's no relay in these units?

(one drive's stacked above the other, 40/80 switches on the back, model
5802D)

Happy bunny 'cos the BBC I reluctantly got talked into taking from
someone the other week turns out to be a B+...

cheers

Jules

I'm sorry for all the times I intentionally ducked underneath the sneeze
guard at a salad bar and sneezed on everything until I couldn't sneeze
any more. I have a problem.
