Subject: The Micro Live - Jan 1985 - Downloadable

Hi All,

You can download a 50 min episode of the above BBC2 programme here
http://www.uknova.com/details.php?id=4473 (free registration required). It's
nothing to do with me, I just saw it there.

I've downloaded it myself, and based on a quick skim through it does seem to
have a few bits off BBC Micro in it. The full description is below.

Enjoy!

Jason.

Micro Live - BBC2, January 1985

Monthly programme presented by Ian McNaught-Davis and Lesley Judd.

As well as the latest computer industry news, the main contents
include:

- CRASH IN UK HARDWARE SALES: With the press predicting many hardware
manufacturers will be going down the pan in 1985, the team decide to
see if these rumours are true. Which home micro had the most sales
during Christmas 1984? The Sinclair Spectrum, of course. Increasing
its share of the market (of computers below one thousand pounds) to
36%, with the C64 on 25%, and the Acorn Electron on 12%.

- WORD PROCESSING: A number of popular micros of the day go head to
head in the word processing stakes.

- CELL PHONES: With cell phones in the UK just being launched, the
team attempt to make the first televised transatlantic call using
one, live on the show. American Micro Live reporter, Freth, looks
into some of the weird and wonderful phones currently being sold in
  New York.

- EDUCATIONAL SOFTWARE: Fred Harris looks into educational software
  for young people.

- INTEGRATED SOFTWARE CHALLENGE: Winners are announced

- HOW SUPERCOMPUTERS ARE CHANGING THE WAY FILMS ARE MADE - The team
look at `The Last Starfighter`. Freth reports from Hollywood.

Please try to seed this, and I'll continue to dig out more retro
footage in the not too distant future.

Many thanks!
