Most of us here think that the Beeb never died. :)

But I'd love to see a Beeb hardware project to totally remake one with 
more modern components. Strip out the circuits that don't tend to get 
used anymore (like the cassette circuit) replace (for example) the banks 
of RAM chips with an old PC SIMM ... Native BBC portable with massive 
solid-state storage and ridiculous battery life anyone? Mmmmmmm ...
