Subject: Mailing list archive update
Hi to the 300+ members of this list,
The help and support section of the archive has undergone a major revamp
and now contains lots of useful information about this mailing list and
the archive.
Full information has been added to enable prospective new members of the
list to join and participate -- the archive regularly receives enquiries
for people wishing to join. There is also a mini-guide to the ettiquete
of the list.
For new members here is a quote from the archive information page:
"The BBC Micro Mailing List Archive is intended to be as complete as
possible archive of posts to the BBC Micro mailing list from the very
beginning to the present day and beyond. A previous archive by Mark
Cooke was lost when the host server was stolen.
Messages have been recovered from various sources including bbc.nvg.org,
James Fidells' majordomo mailing list server and from personal archives
of posts to the list. The archive is updated during the first week of
each month when all messages from the previous month are added. More
frequent updates are made occasionally.
This archive is wholly unofficial and has no connection to the BBC Micro
mailing list or James Fidell other than to provide a useful web resource
for both members of the list and the general public. We are happy to
answer any support enquiries relating to this archive and subscribing to
and unsubscribing from the BBC Micro mailing list."
The archive is a joint project between myself and Jonathan Harston.
Thanks are also due to James Fidell for hosting the mailing lists, to
Andy Nelson for providing the web space and to majordomo who supplies
all the messages and is always up for a friendly chat.

Thanks for being a great community,
Jon Ripley
