I'd make an effort to go with BeebEm personally; multi-platform,
popular, and the source code is available.

Mike seemed quite approachable when I emailed him the other day; drop
him a line and see if he has a spec for the snapshot format (his email
address is at the bottom of the BeebEm web page).

Oh, the mime types for the .tgz files containing emulator source on
Patrick Kaell's Unix BeebEm pages seem to be broken (in case you go to
grab a copy of the source). That or Opera tried to be clever and made a
mess of things :-) Using wget to download them worked fine, though...

(FWIW there didn't seem to be an obvious spec included though; you'd
have to interpret the format from the source code)

I certainly wouldn't advocate another format without exploring (and
ruling out) existing ones first.

cheers

Jules
