Subject: Re: KeyBoard, Winchester Hard Drive
Could someone help me with two problems:
1. My beloved BBC Master keys 'A', 'S' and 'Z' no
longer respond. I have tried heating up the 'solder
points' on the back of the keyboard. When I apply a
multimeter to the two 'solder points' and depress the
corresponding key, a current does flow, but then when
I turn the computer on, they do not work.
Also at times, the 'RETURN' key on the main part of
the keyboard will frequently repeat itself numerous
times when only pressed once and the 'SHIFT' keys will
frequently not work at all. These last two problems
(i.e. RETURN and SHIFT) are temporarily fixed by
lifting the front of the cover a little bit.
2. In 1999, when I last had time to use my Master
computer, I was emailing to Mark Usher re: Winchester
Hard Drives. He advised me that he was exploring
another way of using the drives.
Does anyone know how Mark’s project went?
Is the Winchester Hard Drive the only hard drive that
can be used? Are they available anywhere? What price??
Long live the mighty BBC
