Subject: FW: Possible faulty disk drive

A bit more information regarding the disk problem - I have tried four
commercial disks with no issues - but disks recorded by me in the past and
disks recorded by other people <almost> invariably have issues.

When the drive had been running for a while, I was able to format new disks
right up to the last track; the drive then reported a missing sector
(00 02 I think from memory) and the disk was unusable.

At times the drive has that 'clackerty' sound that a failing hard drive
makes when the heads collide, and then settles and is fairly quiet.

I suspect the drive, but Jason is right in that the people on this group
have been extremely quick in offering assistance, which between the drive
and my GoMMC, may save me considerable hair loss.

Many thanks all, I'm sending some disks to Clive, who has kindly offered to
help out with a known good drive.
