IIRC from my BeebEm days, while they may be electrically different, they 
are in fact programmatically identical. That is, the "Slow peripheral 
control bus" is scanned in the same way, and the keys have the same 
"appearance" on that bus.

Certainly, I don't think I had to make any changes to the BBC B keyboard 
emulation code to make it work in Master 128 mode.

The connectors themselves are dfferent however (if I remember rightly). 
So it could just be an electrical difference.
