Subject: 8-bit IDE i/f debugging

Hi,
I've just finished building up an 8-bit IDE interface for my Master 128.
Problem is, ADFS doesn't seem to be detecting the hard drive. The 3.5" floppy
ends up as drives :0 and :4 and HDInit complains that :0 is a floppy drive if
I try and use it to format the HDD.
  I've tried four different drives - a Seagate ST52520, an IBM W80, a Fujitsu
full-height 3.5" 135MB thing, and a Conner CP425A. None of them seemed to
work - the machine always boots with drive 0 active, and HDInit fails to
detect the drive.

Has anyone built one of these interfaces? Does any diagnostic software
exist (e.g. read sectors by directly accessing the HDD, etc)?

Thanks,
