That's odd. The patched ROM has been working perfectly for me, and
I've tested it with about a dozen drives with the 8-bit interface.
All the pre-assebled cards I took to Wakefield had been tested.
 
One thing that I found when at Wakefield is that some drives are a
bit pickey about being Master or Slave if used with another drive.
All drives are supposed to be happy working as master or slave.
One or two would only work as a pair if it was the master. One
refused to work as a pair unless it was a slave (oh! command me,
command me!)
 
I've got a lot more available time now, so I'm going to fix the
16-bit PCBs I have and start assembling them.
