Subject: Using a Taxan 775 with a Beeb or Master
For the record if anyone happens to need this info at a future date,
I've just finished getting my recently acquired Taxan 775 monitor to
work with my Master 128 (which I assume has an identical video output to
a standard Beeb). After a certain amount of head scratching, as I don't
have a manual, it seems the Taxan juggles its 9-pin D-sub connections
according to whether you have selected TTL or analogue with the input
button. For TTL it 'wires' the socket as a CGA lead, whereas for
'analogue' it sets it up with the standard VGA 9 pin set. Both these
socket options have been tested and found to work well with cables wired
as follows:
TTL (CGA) selected
---
Acorn pin -->> Monitor pin
1 R 3
2 G 4
3 B 5
4 Comp sync 8 + 9 (Won't work with just 8)
5 0v 1 + 2
6 5v (no connection) -
6, 7 (no connection)
Analogue (VGA) selected
Acorn pin -->> Monitor pin
1 R -[330 ohms in series]- 1
2 G -[330 ohms in series]- 2
3 B -[330 ohms in series]- 3
4 Comp sync 4 (H sync)
- 5 (no connection)
5 0v 6 + 7 + 8 + 9
6 5v (No connection)
Hope this helps anyone using this monitor in the future, and hope the
above tabs don't get messed up too much during posting.
