Subject: Re: Slightly off-topic ... How do I replace an A3000 CMOS battery?

Thanks guys,

Until I removed the battery the machine actually did work, although the mono
video out connection is dodgy - I have to touch the centre pole onto the
socket in variuos places until the display stops being a diagonal scrolling
mess and displays properly and only then can I push the plug all the way in.

It starts up in Supervisor mode which I assume is because of the lack of CMOS
settings. Anyone know what *CO. commands are required to set it up for use? I
can't find any on the web specifically for the A3000.

I have removed the battery now - it was a bit more stubborn than I expected
and I fear I may have wrecked any chance of refitting another one in exactly
the same place (contact point broken off flush with the board). The remaining
goo has made all the writing on the board in that area lift off whilst
cleaning. I haven't tried plugging it in again yet ... will it ever work
again? Who knows? I think it's future as a working piece of history is limited
.. :/

Cheers
Richard
