In any event, forums (fora?) take away the single best feature of the
mailing list - the fact that you have the choice over how and when the
contents of the list are presented to you. You can read it when it
arrives, save it in a folder for later, or delete a month's worth without
even reading it. You can read it on a PC, Unix box, handheld, or
(apparently) even a BBC Micro.
Given that there's no shortage of places to put files in order to make
them available to people for download, and I can't recall this list ever
having (or needing) a poll or chatroom (and the lack of context in the
original message), I'm struggling to imagine what "limitations" will be
addressed by a forum.
