ANFS 4.2x also expects to find RAM in Hazel at &C000, and to find
the station number and various other settings by calling OsByte to
read the CMOS settings.

I remember having a rummage around in 4.21, and I think that's the
one where the 'Bad string' error code starts:
 
LDA &FD
 
instead of 
 
LDA #&FD
 
...so generating an error with ERR set to whatever the contents of
&FD was...
